Hi, welcome to EV Cables 4 U, your one-stop shop for all your electric vehicle charging needs. In this video, we're going to answer some of your most frequently asked questions about EV charging. Let's get started!
Do I need my own cable to charge my EV?
It depends. Some public chargers have cables tethered, others don't. Same with home chargers. You never know what the condition of the cable you're going to use 100 miles into a road trip is, or if it even exists. Best to take your own for piece of mind.
How many miles does a 7 kilowatt charger add per hour?
A 7 kilowatt charger is faster than a regular plug. Typically, around 20 to 35 miles per hour, depending on your EV. You can charge most EVs overnight or top up in a few hours.
Can you use a regular plug for EV charging?
Yes, mobile chargers commonly referred to as Granny chargers are available and make it easy for you to top up your EV when travelling or as a backup in case your main charger comes across any issues. Although they are slower than a dedicated wall charger.
Do all EV chargers fit all cars?
No, there are different connectors and standards for EV charging. You need to match your car's connector and charging speed with the charger. We have guides and adaptors available on our site.
